About Us

Who We Are

Bear Market News is an independent Canadian technology and financial markets publication headquartered in Toronto, Ontario. We launched in 2023 with a simple but ambitious mission: to provide real, factual, no-hype analysis of technology, cryptocurrency, and financial markets. No clickbait, no sensationalism — just the truth, backed by data.

In an era where financial media oscillates between breathless euphoria and apocalyptic doom, we chose a different path. We call markets as we see them, grounded in fundamentals, technical analysis, and on-the-ground reporting. Our name isn’t a prediction — it’s a reminder that markets cycle, and the best investors and technologists are the ones who stay level-headed during both the bulls and the bears.

Our Mission

Bear Market News exists to bridge the gap between technical depth and accessible journalism. We cover emerging technology, digital assets, financial markets, cybersecurity, and the venture capital ecosystem with the rigor of a research analyst and the clarity of a veteran journalist.

Every article we publish must pass three tests:

  1. Is it accurate? — We verify claims against primary sources, not other news articles.
  2. Is it useful? — Our readers should walk away with actionable insight, not just information.
  3. Is it honest? — We disclose our sources, our methods, and our limitations.

Our Values

Accuracy Over Speed

We’d rather be right than first. The 24/7 news cycle rewards speed; we reward accuracy. Our fact-checking process involves at least two primary sources per article, and we clearly label anything that remains speculative or unconfirmed.

Independence

Bear Market News is editorially independent. We do not accept payment for coverage, and our advertising relationships never influence editorial decisions. If a story makes an advertiser uncomfortable, that’s their problem — not ours.

Depth Without Jargon

You shouldn’t need a PhD in computer science or a CFA charter to understand what’s happening in tech and markets. We translate complexity without dumbing it down. Our writers are experts who’ve learned to explain things clearly.

Transparency

When we get something wrong, we correct it prominently. Every article shows its publication date and any subsequent corrections. We disclose conflicts of interest, funding sources, and methodological limitations upfront — not buried in fine print.

Contributing Writers

Our contributing team includes cybersecurity researchers, venture capital analysts, open-source developers, and fintech entrepreneurs. We maintain a roster of approximately 15 regular contributors, each bringing specialized expertise to their coverage areas.

Editorial Policy

Our full editorial policy is available on our Editorial Policy page. In brief:

  • Every article requires at least two primary sources
  • Opinion pieces are clearly labeled as such
  • Sponsored content is explicitly marked and separated from editorial
  • Corrections are published promptly and prominently
  • We never accept gifts, trips, or preferential access that could compromise coverage

Fact-Checking Process

Our fact-checking workflow is methodical:

  1. Writer’s first pass — The author verifies all factual claims against primary sources before submission.
  2. Editor review — The section editor spot-checks key claims and requests source documentation for any statement that raises questions.
  3. Fact-checker review — For major investigative pieces or data-heavy analysis, a dedicated fact-checker independently verifies claims.
  4. Post-publication — Readers can submit corrections via [email protected]. All substantiated corrections are published within 24 hours.
